The Ministry of Public Works (MPW) held a contractor’s meeting on May 22, 2024, at the Mall of Alnor Convention Center in Cotabato City. Led by Chief of Construction Division, Tarhata P. Kalim, the meeting addressed key agenda, including the Payment of Claims process, Designation of Liaison Officer, and other relevant matters.
Contractors had the opportunity to raise questions and concerns related to the agenda, with officials from the MPW Regional Office providing significant responses and clarifications. The officials present included Office-in-Charge, Engr. Danilo A. Ong, Atty. Abdulrakman A. Mokamad of the Legal and Legislative Division, Executive Assistant Atty. Omar A. Abutazil, Chief Johary N. Panambulan of Internal Audit, Director of Operations and Infrastructure Service Engr. Nazer P. Ebus, Chief Tarhata P. Kalim of the Construction Division, and Chief Sukarno A. Suliek of the Quality and Assurance and Hydrology Division.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss important matters and obligations as contractors, fostering strong coordination and cooperation between the ministry and contractors. Office-in-Charge Engr. Danilo A. Ong emphasized the significance of close coordination, collaboration, and partnership between the government and contractors for project success. He acknowledged contractors as invaluable partners in fulfilling the MPW’s mandate, particularly in infrastructure development.
“The MPW, as the engineering arm of BARMM, sees you as an invaluable partner in fulfilling our mandate. We need you as a development partner to shape the future of Public Works,” stated the OIC Minister.
The meeting served as an opportunity for contractors and the MPW Regional Office to work closely together towards the successful implementation of projects. The aim was to strengthen the harmonious relationship between partners in the development of building structures for the betterment of Bangsamoro.
Overall, the meeting provided a platform for open dialogue and collaboration, reinforcing the commitment to effective project implementation and fostering a positive working relationship between the MPW and contractors.
