As the engineering arm of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) government, Minister Architect Eduard Uy Guerra spearheaded the turnover ceremony of heavy equipment and motor vehicles together with the MPW key personnel and nine District Engineering Offices (DEOs) on January 25, 2024 at MPW Area Equipment Services, Simuay, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.
According to Shamsuddin A. Hussein, Acting Chief of the Equipment Management Division, fourteen (14) units of Service vehicle-4X4 Pick-up trucks, seventeen (17) Dump trucks 4X4, two (2) Sewage Trucks, and one (1) unit of Prime Mover with Lowbed Trailer have been turned-over to the DEOs.
The Ministry of Public Works (MPW) played a pivotal role in implementing numerous projects across the region, Minister Guerra said the new heavy equipment will fast-track the maintenance activity and implementation of quality infrastructure projects, to quickly respond to calamities and disasters and contribute to the sustainable development of the region.
The new sewage trucks that were intended for declogging of drainage to address the perennial floods in the region due to clogged drainage systems, especially in Cotabato City and in Jolo, Sulu which needed them most.
“I really fight for the purchase of these equipment amounting 576 million In shaa Allah, marami pa itong kasunod” Minister Guerra said.
Receiving this equipment on behalf of their offices were District Engineer Kasim Hasanin of Basilan DEO; District Engineer Avila D. Abobakar of Maguindanao 1st DEO; District Engineer Emran B. Buisan of Maguindanao 2nd DEO; District Engineer Abolcair S. Langilao of Lanao 1st DEO; and District Engineer Maldamin B. Decampong of Lanao del Sur 2nd DEO; Engineer Ajan S. AJijul of Sulu 1st DEO; District Engineer Az-zamier N. Arbison of Sulu 2nd DEO; District Engineer Borris-Zanzibar L. Kadil of Tawi-Tawi DEO; and District Engineer Rasul Piang of Cotabato City DEO.
Bangsamoro Director General Danilo Ong also expressed in his message the significance of the turnover of new equipment to the DEOs.
“This acquisition is a step towards enhancing our organizational mobility enabling us to better serve the community, and fulfill our mission especially the implementation of infrastructure projects in the BARMM region”. said Director General Ong.
