The Ministry of Public Works (MPW) Basilan District Engineering Office (DEO), under the leadership of District Engineer Kasim A. Hasanin continues to sustain quality infrastructure development needs in the province.
Residents of Barangay Luksumbang and Tandung Ahas, Lamitan City, Basilan have no more worries about sudden erosion, storms, and sea-level rise that can harm their lives and properties.
DE Kasim Hasanin ensured first the safety of the lives and homes of the community living in the coastal area through the construction of Shore Protections, a barrier from waves, high tides, and erosion.
These also help maintain the attractiveness and functionality of coastal destinations in the province by preserving beaches.
Additionally, the projects turned to support local economies, businesses, and livelihoods that rely on coastal tourism.
“Ngayon nakita na nila na may shore protection na, so gumawa na sila ng mga cottages, yun ang isa sa mga magandang blessings na nagkaroon po kami ng shore protections,” said the Chairman of Tandung Ahas, Al-Rusdhi Jainul.
